Dear Family and Friends,
Words cannot express my emotions at this time, although my regular tears are doing a pretty good job of it. I am blown away by the incredibly sweet and generous sentiments of your tributes and the unbelievable support for an organization so close to my heart is more meaningful than you can know.
Thank you all for your donations, kind words and for always being there for me. Each one of you has played an integral role in this last leg of my personal and professional journey and its because of each of you that I have valued so many moments along the way. I will always look back on my London years as a highlight in my life. The incredible friends and colleagues I have made will stay with me forever and I am confident they are strong connections that will keep. We are getting excited for the next steps of the Mazer adventure and I look forward to sharing stories with each of you along the way.
Thank you so much! You are all incredible and can feel confident that your generosity has made a difference — both for me and Western Hillel.
There is a story about the sage Choni who saw a man planting a carob trees. He asked the man hoe long it would take for his tree to bear fruit. The man replied, “seventy years”. Choni asked, ” are you so healthy you plan to live that long to benefit from eating it’s fruit? The man replied, I found a fruitful world because my ancestors planted for me. Likewise I am planting for my children.” It is what we plant that makes the biggest different in lives long after we have gone.
The work we do on campus involves exploring jewish ideas thoughts actions and feelings. If I have been able to contribute in any way to help plant Jewish seeds for my students to help them on their Jewish journeys I can feel proud of the work I’ve done while at Western Hillel. It is my hope that this fund generated by my bat mitzvah tribute continues to help our students plant their own seeds for the future.
Thank you all please stay in touch and know how much I miss my time at Western Hillel. XO,
